Elaine’s Caribbean Crochet submitted a proposal for the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Peacebuilding Challenge as a women’s groups that is passionate about creating peace in communities. The aim of the challenge is to build peace in communities through the innovative use of music, creative arts, theatre, sports and physical activity, mentorship, psychosocial development, peacebuilding training, agriculture, and other areas.
Elaine’s was fortunate to be invited to take part in a three-week Peacebuilding and Project Management Certification Course. Each participant will receive an official certificate from the UNDP upon successful completion of the series of interactive workshops. Other potential opportunities for project financing will be shared at the workshops.
Due to your active participation and “homework”, you’ve earned a place among the Top 18 Peace Innovation Challenge Semi-Finalists. Congratulations!  As a semi-finalist, you will be required to submit a revised Proposal for your peacebuilding project which incorporates the knowledge and skills that you would have learned during the Capacity Building Sessions.

While Elaine’s was not selected for the finals, we are grateful for the opportunity to learn strategies to better impact the lives of women through peace building initiatives.
The UNDP Peacebuilding and Project Management course facilitated by the Massy Learning Institute was fantastic. The dynamic facilitators used a variety of tools and resources to connect with participants, and participants were equally given the opportunity to liaise with each other. From the prompt start for each of the sessions to the “DJ” with musical interludes, I would definitely say that this course was a rewarding experience. Nikisha Toppin, Founder Elaine’s Caribbean Crochet
