Elaine’s Caribbean Crochet Celebrates the Launch of CDB PROPEL and New Opportunities for Caribbean Entrepreneurs

Elaine’s Caribbean Crochet was honoured to attend the official launch of CDB PROPEL, the Caribbean Development Bank’s newly rebranded flagship programme for Micro, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (MSMEs).

The invitation was especially meaningful because Elaine’s Caribbean Crochet was recognised as the recipient of the National Award for Outstanding Achievement in Sustainable Development in 2023—an award sponsored by the Caribbean Development Bank. This recognition reflects our ongoing commitment to using creativity, entrepreneurship and community engagement to advance sustainable development throughout Barbados and the wider Caribbean.

CDB PROPEL replaces the long-standing Caribbean Technological Consultancy Services (CTCS) Network, which has supported Caribbean entrepreneurs for more than 40 years. The new brand represents the Bank’s commitment to providing modern, responsive and impactful support for businesses operating in today’s rapidly changing environment.

Head (Ag.) of the Private Sector Development Division at the Caribbean Development Bank Lisa Harding speaks to the history of CDB Propel

During the launch, CDB President Daniel Best reaffirmed that small businesses remain the backbone of Caribbean economies and highlighted that the Bank has invested millions of dollars in technical assistance over the past decade, supporting more than 10,000 entrepreneurs across the region.

The event also featured inspiring stories from programme beneficiaries and discussions on how PROPEL will help Caribbean businesses become more competitive, innovative and resilient.

Over the years, Elaine’s Caribbean Crochet has benefited from numerous grants, entrepreneurship programmes and capacity-building initiatives. These opportunities have enabled us to expand our social enterprise, develop community projects such as Crochet for a Cause: Ridge to Reef, empower youth and women through skills training, and create lasting social and environmental impact.
Being invited to the CDB PROPEL launch is another milestone in our journey and reinforces our belief that strategic partnerships, continuous learning and access to funding can transform communities.Whether you are starting a new business, growing an existing enterprise, strengthening your organisation, or looking for technical assistance and business development support, CDB PROPEL offers valuable opportunities that can help move your vision forward.
