Capacity Building with 4H Foundation

The Barbados 4-H Foundation invited Elaine’s Caribbean Crochet to host a crochet class for beginners at the Springer Memorial School on Saturday 27th June 2026. This activity formed part of the youth charity organisation’s Quarterly Leaders’ Meeting Workshop & Social.

The one-hour session focussed on the basics of crochet through a theoretical and hands-on approach. The participants were able to produce chain stitch bracelets and chain stitch flowers.

The event marks the beginning of Elaine’s Caribbean Crochet’s current engagement with churches, youth groups and community organisations to support their projects and programming.

Founder Nikisha Toppin notes “My Gerandmother was a Brown Owl with the Girl Guides Association of Trinidad and Tobago. Seeing her teach the brownies and guides handicraft is imprinted on my heart and mind. Continuing her legacy by hosting sessions as these is truly a privilege.”

National Programme Coordinator of Barbados 4-H Foundation Thedore Fraser was joined by leaders of 4H clubs across Barbados including Springer Memorial School and Ignatius Byer.

The crochet session enabled the members of the organisation to end their workshop in a fun and enlightening way as they created items in a relaxing and enjoyable atmosphere.

Elaine’s Caribbean Crochet can be contacted at 1-246-284-1152 for future workshop events and engagements.
