On July 4, 2025, Elaine’s Caribbean Crochet participated in the Small Business Association of Barbados’ Trade-Ready: Connecting People, Products & Possibilities Export Networking Event.
Hosted with the goal of spotlighting Barbados’ most promising micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), the event was a hub of innovation, collaboration, and export potential.
Our booth featured our flagship initiative, Crochet for a Cause: Ridge to Reef, a community-driven creative project that uses the art of crochet to support climate action and social change. Visitors to our space had the opportunity to view a colourful, eye-catching display of handcrafted marine life, including corals, turtles, and fish — all designed and crocheted by local artisans.
We were able to engage with business leaders, potential partners, and members of the public who were eager to learn more about how crochet can be a medium for advocacy. Many were surprised to discover how a traditional craft was being reimagined to raise awareness about coral reef preservation, sustainable living, and the importance of giving youth and artisans opportunities to thrive through creativity.
Participating in this export networking event allowed us to share the heart behind Elaine’s: a mission that blends culture, craft, and cause. The feedback we received affirmed that there is a genuine interest in handmade, purpose-driven products that tell a story — and that Barbados has something truly special to offer the world.
We extend heartfelt thanks to the Small Business Association of Barbados for hosting such a meaningful event. Their support of MSMEs and their efforts to strengthen Barbados’ export readiness are not only timely but vital to the growth of our sector. Elaine’s Caribbean Crochet is excited for what lies ahead and remains committed to crafting change — one stitch at a time.
