Following a successful crochet workshop held earlier this year as part of The Ellerslie School’s Women’s Week celebrations, Elaine’s Caribbean Crochet is pleased to announce the donation of a Fibrary to the school.
The donation builds on the momentum created during the Women’s Week activities, where approximately 20 students were introduced to the art of crochet during a lunch-hour workshop facilitated by Elaine’s Caribbean Crochet and Kamilah of Krochet_by_Kami.
To support that interest beyond a single workshop, Elaine’s Caribbean Crochet has established a Fibrary at The Ellerslie School.
A Fibrary combines the concepts of a fiber arts resource centre and a library. It is a shared space where students can access crochet supplies, yarn, hooks, patterns, instructional resources, and inspiration for creative projects.
The goal is to encourage continued learning, creativity, skill development, and peer-to-peer sharing among students interested in crochet and other fiber arts.
We extend our sincere appreciation to The Ellerslie School for embracing this initiative and for their continued commitment to empowering students through practical learning experiences.
We are also grateful to Kamilah of Krochet_by_Kami for her support during the original Women’s Week workshop and for helping to introduce students to the world of crochet.
As we continue our mission of using crochet as a tool for education, empowerment, and community development, we look forward to seeing how students engage with the Fibrary and the creative projects that emerge from it.
We hope that this resource will inspire a new generation of makers, innovators, and creative leaders at The Ellerslie School.
