On November 15, we hosted the first session of Minds in Motion: The Art of Mental Health facilitated by Lynriel Hunte of Knots of Love. Ten young participants joined us for this inaugural session, stepping into a warm, supportive environment where crafting and self-awareness came together seamlessly. The workshop opened with a crochet activity, inviting each youth to create a symbolic amigurumi trio—a tiny brain, heart, and face connected to represent the relationship between how we think, how we feel, and how we act.

After crafting, the group moved into a guided learning session focused on reframing thoughts. They explored simple, practical tools for noticing unhelpful thought patterns and shifting them toward healthier, more empowering perspectives. Through examples, discussions, and creative prompts, the youth learned how thoughts influence emotions and behaviours and how changing one loop in the pattern can change the whole design.

Ms. Hunte was pleased with the engagement, openness, and insight shown by the participants. Their willingness to learn, share, and try something new made the experience deeply meaningful.
