As we approach five years (27 January 2026), five major highlights credibly demonstrate Elaine’s Caribbean Crochet’s evolution, impact, and regional footprint.
Elaine’s first major highlight was securing early validation and launch momentum through the CATAPULT grant (August 2020) and the establishment of its digital storefront with the launch of elainescaribbeancrochet.com (November 2020), which positioned the organisation for e-commerce and regional visibility from the start.

The second major highlight was formalisation and market entry in January 2021, when Elaine’s received business registration from CAIPO and expanded community-building through the Crochet Crew Directory, signalling a shift from “brand” to “platform” by organising and promoting other crochet creatives.
The third major highlight was the period of structured entrepreneurial strengthening and recognition during 2021–2022, including participation in the Barbados Youth Business Trust Social Enterprise Incubator, winning the BYBT pitch competition (August 2021), and achieving significant regional accolades such as MicroPitch Caribbean Best Female Entrepreneur (December 2021) and the Barbados Small Business Association Small Business Manufacturing Award (September 2022)—a strong external validation suite within the first two years.

The fourth major highlight was the successful design and execution of Elaine’s signature flagship initiative, “Crochet for a Cause: Ridge to Reef,” beginning with execution in late 2022 and escalating in 2023 with the Norman Centre exhibit and the donation of replicas to Folkestone Marine Park (April 2023), demonstrating tangible environmental contribution and an identifiable, repeatable programme model.
The fifth major highlight was the expansion from a Barbados-based initiative into a regional, multi-country programme and partnerships footprint (2024–2025), evidenced by executing Ridge to Reef activations in Antigua and Barbuda (April 2024), Saint Lucia (September 2024), Grenada (January 2025), and Saint Kitts and Nevis (November 2025), alongside high-profile engagement such as distributing 100+ Ridge to Reef products at the Caribbean Canada Leaders Dialogue (May 2025)—positioning Elaine’s as a Caribbean-facing social enterprise with demonstrated mobility and relevance beyond one market.
