Inspiring Young Minds at St. Lawrence Primary Entrepreneurial Showcase

On Wednesday, July 9, 2025, Elaine’s Caribbean Crochet had the honour of participating in the St. Lawrence Primary School Entrepreneurial Showcase — an inspiring event aimed at introducing young learners to the exciting world of entrepreneurship. Held on the school grounds between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM, the showcase featured a dynamic mix of local entrepreneurs, each sharing their journey and displaying products and services that represent the power of creativity and innovation.

Elaine’s arrived early to set up our signature booth featuring the Crochet for a Cause: Ridge to Reef initiative — a social impact project that uses the art of crochet to promote climate awareness, encourage creative learning, and empower artisans through purpose-driven crafting. The students were  drawn to the vibrant display of crocheted marine life, including corals, turtles, and fish.

What made the experience even more memorable was the level of interaction and curiosity from the students. We also had a few brave students try their hand at completing our fill in the blank handout and colouring pages.

Participating in the Entrepreneurial Showcase allowed us to plant seeds of creativity and business thinking in the minds of the next generation. We distributed pass it on cards and stickers as an added form of encouragement. It was a beautiful reminder that children are never too young to dream big or to start thinking like entrepreneurs.

We extend warm thanks to the Small Business Association and staff and students of St. Lawrence Primary for the invitation and for the opportunity to share our story. Elaine’s Caribbean Crochet remains committed to using craft as a tool for education, empowerment, and environmental awareness — one stitch at a time.
