Nikisha Toppin, Founder of Elaine’s Caribbean Crochet recently completed the on-line training course in Community Engagement in the Caribbean context. The Caribbean Development Bank’s (CDB) Basic Needs Trust Fund (BNTF) launched the certified course for development practitioners on October 22, 2025.
As the first of its kind in the Caribbean, it was designed to build the capacity of various stakeholders to ensure greater community involvement in development.
The course allowed Nikisha to review the Crochet for a Cause: Ridge to Reef project through a different lens towards quantifying and qualifying the impact of the project on the region. Through creating material relevant to the principles of the course, Nikisha was able to align the concepts to the practical implementation of the project.
Nikisha extends warm congratulations and thanks for the CDB for developing the course towards ensuring the Caribbean voice is heard and understood in the context of the Caribbean.
